Events : WIRQUIN and SIPLEC talk about Demand & Suppply Planning with Colibri

The 4th of July, we were in Paris for a morning session on Supply and Demand planning, here is the report of the event.

This session was introduced by Olivier Dhonte, chairman of  VISEO, the group that edited Colibri. Olivier started by saying a few words about VISEO and the reasons that drove VISEO, a group specialized in IT consulting to get into the software edition business. Reasons 4 years ago are the same today: the ambition to offer a simple tool, affordable and ergonomic that answer the need of companies who do not have time nor means to implement classical solution of the market that most of the time require a too important investment and commitment.

Jonathan David, Supply Chain project manager for the Wirquin group and Pierre-André Lamongie, Supply Chain director for Siplec presented their companies and why they needed a sales forecasting solution.

Wirquin, industrial company specialized in the plastic injection, was facing issues with different subsidiaries in different countries and of different maturity levels with moreover long replenishment delays. Siplec, an import structure part of the E.Leclerc movement and specialized in the fuel and the non-eating private labels, had long replenishment delays and was facing limits from their former tool : Excel. The stakes for Siplec were to reduce shortage and anomalies while structuring the process.

Events Colibri - Siplec & Wirquin

The main criteria that led to the choice of Colibri where:

  • The speed of implementation
  • The low implication of the IT team required
  • The ease of use for the teams and the functionalities clear and efficient.
  • The process supported by the tool
  • The price

Many advantages and gain were noted after the implementation of Colibri. For example, Siplec decreased its shortage rate by 3.5 points while Wirquin evaluated a diminution of its stocks from 48 to 43 days of stocks (which represent -1,5M€ or 10%). In addition, Wirquin also noted an improvement of its reliability among its less mature subsidiaries. For instance, the Russian subsidiary saw its reliability went from 35 to 55% in 2 years. The service rate for plants and customer also improved.

At a qualitative level Siplec and Wirquin both stated that the solution had been well welcomed by the teams. The Colibri model, in start-up style and highly reactive was appreciated as well.
