The Kings of the Supply Chain, 2019 edition

On Thursday 17 January, we were present at the 2019 Kings of the Supply Chain. For this 13th edition, the event was once again a great success. Many supply chain professionals from Paris and France came to attend the presentations of the 8 finalists selected by the jury.

This year, the trend was clearly towards agility, security and sustainable development.

The projects presented, all very interesting, had different problematics but shared a strong need to make an agile transition and gain flexibility. In addition, security was often a major metric considered when making decisions.

Finally, sustainable development was a challenge that was often addressed directly or indirectly. For example, the Heineken group has reorganized its POS Supply Chain in order to improve traceability and security, which lead to the reduction of obsolete stock destruction to zero. The Nestlé Water group presented its project to reopen the train line between its Nîmes plant and the port of Fos sur Mer. Thanks to this major project, which was completed in just one year, 2,500 tonnes of CO2E were saved.

It is also worth noting the participation in the competition of the young Franco-African group Éléphant Vert. This company, resolutely oriented towards sustainable development, aims to transform agriculture with efficient and accessible bio-solutions.

Congratulations to the three winners selected according to the Jury’s marks and the 460 votes from the public:

  • The Banque de France and its many partners who won the grand prize for the presentation and implementation of the Courneuve automated trust center. This ambitious and sustainable project (50 years of service life) addresses the issues of time, security and agility.
  • Air Liquide and Wakeo for the innovation prize. This major international group has teamed up with a French start-up to enable real-time traceability of helium flows to improve reliability and customer service.
  • Elephant Vert, a young company founded in 2012 by a foundation, received the public’s favorite prize. With strong growth, the company has decided to implement a S&OP process to address the predictability of finished products and inventories.
